UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR:

1.INATTENTIVE (AFK) SCRIPTING:
Away from keyboard (AFK) Scripting refers to the automatic practicing of skills or other actions while you're not attending the keyboard. "Attending the keyboard" means you must be able to respond to your surroundings within the game, and is distinctly different than "sitting at the keyboard doing other things while your character practices skills.". It is expressly forbidden in Shattered Utopia for you to gain skills for any of your characters in this manner. Player Helpers (PH) actively seek out those who abuse the system by AFK scripting.

2. OBSCENE LANGUAGE:
Shattered Utopia is a game for players of all ages. While we do not expect everyone to speak like an angel, we will not tolerate language that, in our discretion, is considered vulgar and/or obscene. The use of such language, whether or not you consider it IC, is not acceptable. This includes its use in casual and public speech, racial links, ESP contacts, or even in a character's name. A good rule of thumb would be what one might hear on prime-time television.

3. HARASSMENT:
Continual unwarranted verbal harassment, or unprovoked harassment via character action, is not tolerated. Any player going out of their way to harass another player through the use of their characters, or the games post boards, can and will be punished.

Please note that scrolling (continual filling of the screen with text simply for the sake of annoyance) falls under harassment. This can be a gray area and we try to be lenient towards a greater freedom of expression due to the inherent conflicts and backgrounds between our player races. This, however, does not give the player license to say anything that they want (even if it is not considered obscene) as often as they want, to another player.

'Verbal Harassment' -
'Mind rape' - Using words and mannerisms toward another player to convey unwanted sexually suggestive actions. Ok, this is a definite gray area and we try to be lenient towards a greater freedom of expression due to the inherent conflicts and backgrounds between our player races, but this does not give the player license to say anything that they want (even if it is not considered obscene) as often as they want, to another player.

4. ABUSE OF GAME BUGS:
It is the responsibility of all Shattered Utopia players to report all problems, errors, or bugs in the game to the Nodalideas.com staff as soon as they are found. The continued used of such is contrary to Nowhere Else And Beyond policy as such bugs/errors can damage the enjoyment of the game for all its players.

Additionally, if you know about a bug or have heard about a bug and fail to report the bug to the staff, you will be treated no differently from someone who abuses the bug. Anyone caught abusing a bug may be locked out of any and all Nodalideas.com products forever.

5. CROSS-CHARACTER INTERACTION::
In Shattered Utopia, every player is allowed to have more characters to play the game. In no instance, without prior authorization by staff, are you allowed to use these character to, in any way, help or aid any of the other characters on your account(s). As we have no way of discerning between friends or family using the same computers trade between these is also prohibited. Violation of this policy may result in immediate lockout from the game. Repeat offenders may be locked out permanently.

Examples of this sort of abuse are:
-Using one of your characters to 'avenge' yourself on someone who has wronged another one of your characters.
-Using a third party or creating a character to transfer items or money between your own characters.
-Leaving items in a location for another of your characters to retrieve.
-Using another character or third party to ‘hold’ items while you delete and re-roll the original character.
-Making use of knowledge one of your characters has that another one would not to benefit the other character.

6. ANY BEHAVIOR THAT IS CONTRARY TO THE GAME SPIRIT:
Ok, this is a 'catch-all' phrase and we know it. The bottom line is that Shattered Utopia is here for the enjoyment of all its players and not just for a few. We can and will make changes in Shattered Utopia as it evolves.

7. REPRESENT YOURSELF AS AN EMPLOYEE/STAFF.
This includes making use of the disguise skill, faking staff email addresses, and faking staff messenger service names. Any player who does this may be locked out of any and all Nodalideas.com products forever.

OTHER POLICY INFORMATION:

1. CHARACTER NAMES:
Disruptive Character Names: Names which are offensive, out of character, graphic, or otherwise disrupt the IC (in character) game environment are prohibited.

This may include some ‘famous’ persons (i.e. “Michael Jordan”) or phrases (i.e. “Bob Forapples” or “Deadman Walking”). The Rule of thumb we will use in deciding if a name is 'famous' is if a name can be shown to be from another copyrighted work or from someone 'famous' either living or dead, then we will change it.

Characters with such names may be subject to name changes without warning, or even punishment in the case of repeat offenders.

2. EVER-CHANGING WORLD:
Shattered Utopia is a living world where the setting, situations and even rules change over the course of time. The staff reserves the right to make any and all adjustments, changes or modifications at any time without notification or consent of the players. Staff will, however, make every effort to warn players about major upcoming changes to the game as long as such warning would not, in the opinion of staff, adversely affect the game.

3. NO RIGHT TO PRIVACY:
There is no right to privacy, constitutional, common law or otherwise, once you are inside Shattered Utopia. Our admin have the authority and ability to monitor public and private player conversations as Nodalideas.com, in its sole discretion, deems necessary for the ongoing running of the game. However, the admins will not monitor any conversations unless they believe that the player or players involved in the conversations are engaging in or planning to engage in unacceptable behavior or if the player has been previously warned that his/her conversations will be monitored.

4. USER RIGHTS:
While we have stated some of the rights that staff have regarding Nowhere Else And Beyond, it has always been our policy to also clarify what our obligations to you, our customer, are. In the unlikely event that we have failed in keeping up our end of things, please let us know: rpg@nowhere-else.org

Among your rights are:
A. The right to be treated professionally by every member of the Nowhere Else And Beyond staff. While we might not agree with you or your opinion, you must always be treated courteously and professionally. While not all PH are alike and their role-playing 'personas' are unique and different, when you are interacting with them, they must never be rude, vulgar or obscene in talking with you.
B. You have the right to have your opinions heard regarding Shattered Utopia or Nodalideas.com.
C. You have the right to be rewarded for reporting previously unreported bugs to us. While you are obligated by policy to report any bugs to us immediately, it is our belief that doing so should earn you something. For each real bug reported, a bug report point will be credited to you.
D. You have the right to a game that is updated constantly and that is bug-free as we can make it. The Staff is committed to working very hard to make Shattered Utopia the best Free RPG anywhere. To this end we will work hard to remove any bug or problem we are aware of. We care a lot about Shattered Utopia and we hope you will find this out over time.

5. STAFF HARASSMENT:
Continual abuse of the assist command, the report command, or harassment of a staff member through any means is not allowed. Punishments may vary from short lockouts to give a player time to cool off to permanent lockouts in extreme cases. Please note that “staff fishing” (going to different staff members for help with the same issue until you get an answer you like) is strictly considered harassment and will be punished. Using a character’s spells to scry or translocate to an PH is also not permitted.

6. PLAYER QUESTS:
All quests written by you, any other player, or even the staff, are licensed automaticaly under the open content license.

7. PLAYER QUESTS CONTENT:
Nodalideas.com is not responsible for the content of player quests. Although the staff will do all that is possible to remove any offensive quests and related material, some time could pass between the moment a player posted a quest and the admins have the opportunity to check it. During this time the quest will be public. In order to help keep the game clean and fun, please inform the staff immediately upon discovering something that could be considered offensive by using the Bug Manager found in the Menu within the game.

CHAT RULES (what is not accepted):

1. Impedes or otherwise prohibits communication; disrupts the discussion including, without limitation, flooding, spams etc.
2. Contains highly explicit or graphic descriptions or accounts of sexual acts, including but not limited to sexual language of a violent or threatening nature, directed at another individual or group of individuals, particularly when unsolicited.
3. Contains vulgarities directed toward another individual or group.
4. Depicts violence in a gratuitous manner, without journalistic or artistic merit, primarily intended to agitate or cause emotional distress.
5. Is intended to victimize, harass, degrade or intimidate an individual or group of individuals on the basis of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, race, religion or sexual orientation. Hate speech is unacceptable anywhere on the service.
6. Solicits personal information from a minor (under 18 years old). Personal information includes full name, home address, home telephone number, or other identifying information that would enable "offline" contact.
7. Contains or facilitates the transfer of software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment.
8. Contains material that defames, abuses, threatens, promotes, or instigates physical harm or death to others, or oneself.
9. Is illegal or incites illegal activity, such as instructional information on how to build a bomb and/or make counterfeit money.
10. Solicits for exchange, sale or purchase of sexually explicit images, and/or material harmful to minors; including, but not limited to, any photograph, film, video, or picture or computer generated image or picture (actual or simulated).
11. Infringes anyone else's intellectual property rights, including, but not limited to, any copyright, trademark, rights of publicity, rights of privacy, or other proprietary rights.
12. Attempts to harvest or collect member information, including screen names.
13. Impersonates or represents any person or entity in an attempt to deceive, harass or otherwise mislead another member. You may not pretend to be an employee or representative of "Shattered Utopia", Inc. family of companies, or affiliates.
14. Attempts to get a password, or other private information from a user. Remember: "Shattered Utopia" admin will NEVER ask for your password.
15. Links to and/or references content not allowed under these guidelines.
16. No begging for money, spamming "I need X gold someone please give me some money." Will result in you being banned from chat, multiple infractions will lead to a permanent ban.
Allowed: Asking for money for a service, such as "I need 20k gold, I will trade X items or X materials for it!" Asking via a PM is acceptable, unless you are spamming and repeatedly begging.
17. Use incomplete words like (but not limited to) "wt", "u" and other l337 ways to talk. Some abreviations like "wb" for welcome back, "CU" for see you, "DT" or "PO" are moderatly accepted as long as they don't fill the whole sentence. Forms of slang and "street speak" are also unacceptable.
18. Spoil quests, or other things. Spoiling the game is no fun, so don't ask for a spoiler in the chat. You may ask for help and get some indirect hints but not a spoiler.
